BSWC - Annual General Meeting

The Club's AGM and Installation Supper was held in The Furniture Makers' Hall on the 28th February 2018

Over 50 members of Broad Street Ward Club were present at the 41st Annual General Meeting held in Furniture Makers’ Hall, appropriately so in that the incoming Chairman (Mr Jonathan Hindle, shown below) is a Past Master Furniture Maker.

Those present heard a lively presentation from the outgoing Chairman, Neil Hitchens, when he spoke about his year in office and how much delight it had given him to lead the Club. He said how much members appeared to have enjoyed his programme of activities and what especial pleasure it had given him to host two separate weekends in Winchester, sharing with those visiting his own time at the College, not only some of the history, but also its traditions and the delight and privilege of spending his schooldays there.

Before he stepped down, Neil said he was particularly pleased to present a donation to the Reverend Jeremy Crossley, the Club’s Honorary Chaplain, to reflect the close relationship which it had with his benefice of St Margaret Lothbury.

Taking the Chair for the year 2018-2019 will be Jonathan Hindle, Group Managing Director of KI Europe. He said that he was looking forward to his year and, in outlining briefly his programme, spoke especially about some of the arts-based events, reflecting his family’s particular interest in this aspect.

He will be supported by Deputy Chairman, Nigel Mattinson of Grant Thornton (and a former Treasurer of the Club), Michael Kemsley as Honorary Treasurer and Judith Rich as Honorary Secretary, together with David Herbert, James Nisbet, Lisa Preuveneers, Sarah Sturrock and Roger Walsh as his committee.

After the meeting, members and their guests enjoyed an excellent repast and the opportunity to share time with others present – an evening which was much appreciated by everyone, despite the snow which caused some difficulty for many of the journeys home!
